A distinguished media executive who formerly worked as a senior vice president at ESPN, Keith Clinkscales now leads the sports and cultural news organization Shadow League Digital. The recipient of a variety of media industry awards, Keith Clinkscales received the Excellence in Journalism Award from the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ).

A professional association supporting the education and advancement of African-American journalists, NABJ recently held its annual convention in Florida. Taking place at the J.W. Marriott Miami Turnberry Resort and Spa, the event drew three Democratic presidential hopefuls, who participated in an NABJ candidates' forum. Taking part in half-hour question and answer sessions with conference attendees were Vermont senator Bernie Sanders, New Jersey senator Cory Booker, and South Bend, Indiana mayor Pete Buttigieg.
The far-ranging discussion with candidates covered topics such as economic policy and healthcare plans, as well as white supremacist domestic terrorism and hate-based politics. The appearance of three Democratic presidential hopefuls at the NABJ conference reflects the party’s imperative to turn out voters of color to run a competitive race.
